Professional background
I qualified as a mental health nurse (BSc Hons) in 2012 and as an integrative counsellor (level 5) in 2020. I am registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and The Nursing and Midwifery Council. I have worked with both adults and young people since 2012 and have supported people to understand and overcome anxiety, low mood, OCD, eating disorders and emotional dysregulation. I work in a person centred, trauma informed way and can also draw on CBT skills. I am currently a Senior Lecturer for student mental health nurses at a local university. I offer both face to face (in Chepstow) and online counselling sessions.
Values
I aim to be an honest, approachable and kind person and believe the priority of therapy is building a trusting, therapeutic relationship where the client feels able to open up and explore their challenges, without fearing judgement. I also have professional and personal experience of supporting people with ADHD and Autism, and hope that I can help everyone feel accepted and understand the strengths of their neurodivergence.
